On April 21-22, Synergía, in partnership with Trans Organización Feminista Perú (TOFP) and PromSex, supported the Special Rapporteur on the Rights of LGBTI persons Roberta Clarke in her first promotional visit to Perú.
On April 21 Commissioner Clarke attended the first post-pandemic in-person launch of the report “Trans and Gender-Diverse Persons and Their Economic, Social, Cultural, and Environmental Rights,” published by the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights in 2020. Commissioner Clarke joined a panel moderated by Mirta Moragas Mereles, Synergía’s Director of Policy and Advocacy, with the participation of Miluska Luzquiño, TOFP Executive Director, and Marcela Romero, Executive Director of the Red Latinoamericana y del Caribe de Personas Trans (RedLacTrans). At the end of the event, Commissioner Clarke met with large group of Peruvian LGBTIQ civil society representatives to learn about the situation of the LGBTIQ rights in the country.
On April 22, Commissioner Clarke visited a trans community center in the outskirts of Lima.
